Tinder’s mission is to bring people together and create meaningful connections. For over 10 years, Tinder has been the place to meet new people. The new generations of daters think differently about relationships — today, they’re looking for more and new ways to connect and share experiences.

Our team in Ghent focuses on these New Experiences: we design, test, and build innovative features that enable new forms of discovery on top of the existing Tinder experience. During this internship, you’ll contribute to an experiment that brings this vision to life.

The Assignment
Develop an innovative feature that helps users find people in a new way and/or tools that enable this. You’ll collaborate with our multidisciplinary Product, Design, Engineering & Analytics team.

You’ll devise a product solution from A to Z. You’ll start with user problems, come up with a product hypothesis that addresses these user problems, and translate this hypothesis into a feature. You’ll test this using user interviews, online user surveys, surveys of people in the target group who are not yet users, usability tests, market tests, etc. Afterwards, you’ll work with our product & design team to create a product brief that the engineering team can work with. You’ll follow up on the project until delivery and then monitor the results.

During an intake interview, we’ll jointly determine the precise scope of the assignment, tailored to your technical background and interests.
Expected Deliverables
  • Strategic/product hypothesis
  • Proof of Concept of the feature (feature specification)
  • Documentation of the design (wireframes, mock-ups, flowcharts)
  • Final presentation to the team with lessons learned and a possible demo of a working prototype
  • Way of Working
  • You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team with product, design, engineering, and analytics.
  • Agile approach: weekly check-ins, demos, and quick feedback.
  • Access to real methodologies we use daily: user interviews, surveys, usability testing.
  • What You’ll Learn
  • How to build for an app with millions of users worldwide.
  • How to work in an international, multidisciplinary team.
  • How to make an impact with state-of-the-art mobile & backend technologies.
  • How to go through the entire process — from idea to prototype to live test.
  • Please mention No Whiteboard if you apply!
