The Problems You'll Solve

At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow.  As a Senior Engineer, you will be building and shaping our product for Private Equity clients. In particular, you’ll be one of the key contributors in improving operational efficiency, building new features while capitalizing on standardized solutions. Working in close collaboration with both business and engineering teams within Carta, we navigate a unique and challenging product space that intersects with multiple domains including Cap Table Management, Fund admins, and various other teams.

The Team You'll Work With

The Unified Experience for PE team at Carta helps private equity firms easily see and manage their portfolio companies by creating connected and user-friendly tools. The team’s core focus is to create a unified experience for investors — including detailed views for PE-backed LLCs.

Some of the key problem areas you will be working on:

  • Fragmented experience - The platform lacks unified dashboards for all investment entities, especially PE-backed LLCs, making portfolio overviews difficult.
  • Missing Valuations and Insights - Key information (valuations, holdings, financials, KPIs) is not easily accessible for PE-backed LLCs and FA issuers, limiting transparency.
  • Cumbersome Entry to Key Products - No streamlined way to access essential tools (e.g., valuations, data monitoring) from portfolio views.
  • Disconnected Platform Workflows - Data and workflows across investments, valuation, and reporting aren’t well integrated—impacting product launches and analytics.

About You

You deeply care about your users and are relentless in your pursuit to build enterprise-grade applications. You are energized by solving deep problems collaboratively and can easily transition between a Solver and Tech Lead archetype. Additionally:

  • You have 5+ years of frontend or full-stack engineering experience.
  • You have experience in architecting complex SaaS products with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices.
  • You are passionate about some elements of our tech stack (ReactJS, Typescript, React Queries, Storybook, Amplitude, Ink (we invite you to check out our very own ink.carta.com)).
  • You are excited to work with stakeholders across engineering, product, business, and marketing.
  • You have an interest in AI/ML technologies and are eager to explore how they can be applied to improve product experiences.
  • You have a desire to become a product domain expert and refine ambiguous product requirements to deliver customer value.
  • You see communication as one of your strengths.
  • You want to build and own your work end-to-end.
  • You are eager to move fast but recognize when to build for the future.

At Carta, you’re not just an employee. You’re a builder who is creating infrastructure that accelerates innovation and empowers more ownership. Cartans are helpful, relentless, unconventional, and kind; representing Carta’s Identity Traits. They work collaboratively and cross-functionally to challenge the status quo, working towards a common goal of creating more owners in the private markets.
