In this role, you will

  • Design and implement new tools and services to enhance the FinOps framework, driving efficient and transparent cloud spending.
  • Develop and deploy instrumentation for comprehensive monitoring and precise cost allocation across compute and data storage systems.
  • Build intuitive dashboards and reports for engineers, leadership, and executives, providing real-time insights on cost anomalies, resource efficiency, and spending patterns.
  • Partner closely with teams across Aurora to identify and execute cost-efficiency initiatives and optimize cloud resource usage.
  • Continuously monitor and manage resources across various AWS products, staying current with the latest AWS updates and advancements.

 

Required Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent industry experience and 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang, Python, C++, or Java with a focus on writing robust, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and contribute effectively within large-scale codebases
  • Experience with cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including deploying and managing cloud resources
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to cross-functional teams
  • A commitment to developing high-performance, intuitive software solutions that drive impactful results in cloud cost management and efficiency

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with Big Data ecosystems and relational databases
  • Experience in FinOps for medium to large size organizations
  • Proficiency in API and service development, with a focus on scalable, maintainable interfaces
  • Experience in web UI development such as ReactJS and Typescript
  • Comfortable working in Linux or other Unix-based environments

The base salary range for this position is $162,000-$260,000 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
