Quantum-Si is seeking an ambitious Territory Development Specialist for the Western US, based in San Diego, to uncover and create new business opportunities for Quantum-Si’s Next-Generation Protein Sequencing™ products. The successful candidate will possess an enthusiastic entrepreneurial work ethic and work cooperatively with commercial Business Development Managers (BDMs or Account Managers), Field Marketing, and Field Applications teams to execute lead generation activities and develop a robust sales funnel. This role involves a strategic combination of digital outbound sales prospecting and time in the field finding new leads. This role reports directly into Field Marketing.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:
- Evangelize Quantum-Si’s Next-Generation Protein Sequencing solutions in a variety of application areas, with a focus on building awareness and interest at new accounts, or new departments at existing accounts, within the Western US.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities through digital and in-person outbound prospecting efforts.
- Use diverse software tools and databases to identify potential business targets.
- Occasionally manage and qualify inbound leads generated from marketing campaigns (MQLs) on behalf of sales territories to ensure alignment with target criteria and readiness for further sales engagement.
- Deliver effective introductory scientific/technical pitch presentations of our Platinum protein sequencing platform, handle initial objections, and create qualified leads for BDM.
- Conduct targeted outbound prospecting through various channels, including email, phone, social media, and events.
- Develop and execute outreach strategies to engage with potential customers and generate new leads.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive maps of academic accounts to streamline sales navigation and identify key decision makers and influencers within institutions.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and refine lead generation and nurturing campaigns.
- Monitor and report on KPIs and lead generation metrics with regular updates on progress towards meeting assigned goals. Work closely with the sales, marketing, and technical teams to ensure alignment and support in achieving business objectives.
- Effectively use CRM database (salesforce.com) and other sales enablement tools.
- Participate in key customer-facing events such as local seminars co-organized with Account Managers, regional tabletop sponsored events, and engage with prospects and customers at special events such as Roadshows or Demos-on-the-Go.
- All other duties assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences discipline and experience in proteomics, molecular biology, or DNA sequencing markets.
- Firsthand experience with life science research and strong understanding of academic and biotech research environments.
- Strong knowledge base of proteomics assay methodologies including immunoassays and mass spectrometry. Workflow experience is a plus.
- Strong desire to win business and establish long-term customer relationships.
- Confident energetic “Hunter” mentality.
- Highly ambitious, adaptable, and independent.
- Thrives in a startup, rapidly growing, company environment. Can pivot when necessary and stay positive.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, great computer skills.
- Takes initiative with a strong growth mindset.
- Ability and desire to travel up to 50%
Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):
- Experience in lead generation and prospecting.
- Graduate degree in life sciences.
The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $85,000 - $105,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
