Salary

$130,000 - $155,000. C


Quantum-Si is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our Instrument Engineering team. As a Staff Engineer, your role will be pivotal in the development of our next generation protein sequencer.

 

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Driving mechanical development of our next generation sequencer from system requirements to production release. Work to develop concept layout, detailed design, analysis and testing as appropriate.
  • Strong emphasis on precision design.
  • Meet project cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Support release to production.
  • Provide innovative solutions to design challenges.
  • Flexible collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in support of cross-company research, development, and manufacturing activities

 

Qualifications

  • Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other similarly appropriate field
  • Advanced degree and/or with 12+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Experience with instrument chassis design.
  • Precision machine design proficiency, controlling degrees of freedom, error budgeting, material selection, GD&T, design for manufacturability.
  • Plastics design experience and processing knowledge for the following: injection molding, extrusion, blow/cast films, and plastic welding
  • Hardware, equipment, or machine build design experience.
  • Ability to cover multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Excellent communication skills are required, and the ability to interact well in group meetings/working environments.
  • Self-starter with a relentless work ethic who can work independently, but who also functions well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated team skills: ability to maintain excellent rapport with colleagues in the face of tight development schedules.

 

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Knowledge of motion control systems is a plus.
  • Experience with design, characterization, and fabrication of mechanical, optical, and opto-mechanical parts.

 

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $130,000 - $155,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
