The Problems You'll Solve

At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow.

Our in-house Brand & Creative team is at an exciting time in its development, and we are looking for a new digital designer to join us. Based on the West Coast, and working directly with the visual brand, digital and social leads, you will deliver a range of visual assets - from web and social designs to ads and marketing collateral - with an emphasis on technical detail, and pixel perfect production design. As a key part of our team, you will also take ownership of building and maintaining our visual guidelines as our brand identity evolves.

  • Understand the long-term strategic value of the Carta platform
  • Work in a tight-knit, collaborative team with an eclectic skillset, and be flexible in working across timezones with international colleagues
  • Support our visual and web leads in taking brilliant concepts through to polished designs
  • Be prepared to knowledge share, learn, and inspire the team
  • Be an advocate for creativity and design within Carta
  • Collaborate and build partnerships with other Cartans, including Web and Product Design
  • Empower and support other Cartans by designing and maintaining easy to use templates
  • Support our social team in the delivery of a range of visual assets
  • Build, maintain and own our brand design system, defining all of Carta’s visual assets

The Team You'll Work With

You’ll be joining our Brand & Creative Team.

You will be part of the Marketing organization and will work with a variety of different teams and functions in this role. We have teammates across the globe who love spreading the word about Carta, seeding equity ownership, and increasing access to financial education.

The Brand & Creative team is a group of designers, creatives, writers and filmmakers dedicated to bringing the Carta brand story to life. We are spread globally and have grown adept at working across timezones. We have a simple approach to how we deliver for the business; by going above and beyond in everything we do, while cultivating a refreshingly ego-free and creative environment in which to work. We believe in the power of collaboration to multiply and enhance individual talent, cultivating a space where designers can achieve their full potential.

About You

You are a Senior Digital Designer with a love for the technical side of brand building. You take satisfaction in crafting and connecting the pieces of a visual identity, with an eye for detail, and a passion for the bigger picture. We are looking for a Figma native, well versed in the platform and the latest advances and techniques, who understands the value of clean, easy to navigate brand systems. You may have had past experience as an artworker, product or web designer, and would like to broaden your skill set and play a role in shaping a brand as it develops. You may be a freelance designer who misses the satisfaction of working in a  team, or have past agency experience but are interested in a role in-house. Whatever your background and past experience, if you are looking for fresh challenges as part of an innovative and forward thinking brand design team, we’d love to hear from you!

  • 4+ years of professional design experience recommended; Agency, freelance or in-house
  • Reporting to the Creative Team Lead, directly supporting the visual and web designers
  • Senior level, proactive, able to work comfortably under own initiative and manage multiple projects to specific timeframes
  • Organized and efficient, delivering work within deadlines and to specifications
  • Mastery of Figma, creating auto layouts, component libraries, and keeping up to date with the latest platform developments.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proven experience producing brand assets for web, social and marketing campaigns including wireframing, prototyping, landing page design, component libraries, static and animated ads, data sheets and marketing collateral
  • Experience in building and maintaining design systems and brand guidelines
  • A passion for design and branding, with a solid understanding of typography, layout, composition and hierarchies
  • Ability to streamline, organize and optimize templates (including Google slides) for use by the wider team
  • A solid communicator, able to coordinate cross-team efforts and align with multiple stakeholders
  • A curious, innovative mind that relishes problem solving, and enjoys collaboration
  • Someone who embodies the Carta trait of kindness in their working style, with an empathetic mindset and a ‘team-first’ mentality
  • Experience with video, motion graphics or print design a plus

Select candidates will be invited to take part in a ‘design challenge’ as part of the interview process. This will be a short, hypothetical exercise unrelated to Carta projects.

All applicants are invited to include links to online portfolios, and live work examples with explanatory notes.

We would also love to hear about a piece of design or creative that inspires you. Please send us a short description, plus any relevant links.
