The Product Manager role is the lead consultant for client engagements, partnering with our clients to create innovative concepts and leading internal teams to build digital products that achieve strategic business objectives. The scope of this role will span from leading new product development and optimizing existing products in the market, along with delivering the product for our clients. This role will invent creative solutions that are both user-centric and business-centric and help our teams and clients deliver against their vision. 

What Things Will You Do As A Nerd?

  • Defines the product and can work through feasibility, while identifying what makes the product stand out and deliver value for the business and user needs. Should be able to articulate the purpose and positive change the creation of these solutions will bring about. 
  • Accountable for developing and representing the product strategy, roadmap and scope to appropriate internal and external resources
  • Collaborates with other Nerdery domains ( business consulting, insights, analytics, technology & experience design) to:
    • Create & define the vision of the product or a suite of products based on client needs.
    • Identify & define objectives and key results to track product success against.
  • Can correctly identify the customers and markets that will engage with a product, and reflect all hypothesized opportunity areas (needs, pain points, and desires.)
  • Serve as the key person responsible for carrying the product from ideation through delivery. This includes:
    • Serve as primary partner for client in the product development lifecycle
    • Create, manage and prioritize backlog
    • Direct the Product design and development teams
    • Drive consensus in achieving solutions, remove roadblocks
  • Evaluate product progress against the goals and adjust as needed
    • Set up measurement framework that aligns product to OKRs
    • Measure and adjust scope based on user feedback and product analytics
  • Support the continued evolution of Nerdery’s offering on digital product development by creating trainings/artifacts/solutions for our teams and clients to use
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and expertise guiding teams and supporting the development of individual team members

What Skills Will Help You Be A Successful Nerd?

  • Proven ability to navigate, influence, and facilitate communication between internal and external networks; experience developing and leading stakeholder relationships through establishing lasting and impactful partnerships
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, active listening, critical thinking, and presentation skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership and facilitating decision making
  • Must be able to provide structure, be proactive, navigate ambiguity, manage stakeholders, and take responsibility for client deliverables; able to go between “in the weeds” analyses and “big-picture” thinking rapidly
  • Experience working with clients to ideate, build, launch and support enterprise digital products
  • Can identify new ways of thinking to improve the products and experiences.
  • Experience and willingness to execute work with internal and external cross-functional teams using proven approaches and frameworks, applied to a consulting setting (including Agile, Design Thinking, and Lean Startup)
  • Background in data/platform and State govt experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-7+ years of consulting experience in the Product space for a consulting firm or creative agency, or similar experience
