We are seeking a dynamic and driven Biomedical Device Summer Intern to bolster our research and development crew. This role is pivotal in propelling our proteomics research forward, focusing on crafting innovative surface chemistries to enhance system performance. As part of our team, you'll collaborate closely with seasoned biomedical device engineers, chemical engineers, and surface chemists, gaining valuable insights and skills. We're seeking candidates eager to explore new surface chemistries, master materials characterization techniques, and delve into protein sequencing on our Next Generation Protein Sequencer.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Acquire practical, hands-on experience in protein sequencing and surface chemistry development through conducting fundamental research.
  • Develop proficiency with multiple types of chemistries and surface science characterization techniques.
  • Learn and apply data analysis methodologies, and effectively present analysis outcomes to the R&D team members on a regular basis.
  • Maintain comprehensive records in a laboratory notebook to document experimental procedures and results accurately.
  • Deliver a presentation of your research findings to the wider Quantum-Si community at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Commit to a full-time schedule for at least eight weeks during the summer: working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, at Quantum-Si in Guilford, CT.

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Minimum of sophomore standing in college pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Biochemistry, Material Science, or a relevant field.
  • Eagerness to acquire knowledge in surface chemistries and protein sequencing.
  • Proficiency in collaborative teamwork, with a strong ability to actively engage with team members.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in analytical thinking and problem-solving, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Experience with bench work in a laboratory environment.

 

The estimated hourly rate range for this role based in the United States of America is: $25 - $28. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
