About the team/role

Checkr is seeking an experienced full stack Staff Engineer to join the Growth team, specifically focusing on the activation of new customers. Our team’s focus is to ensure that every new potential Checkr customer has a speedy, straightforward, and user-friendly sign-up and ordering experience.

In this role, you will be critical in partnering with our multi-disciplinary teams including Product, Design and Research, Data Analytics, and Marketing to build and test hypotheses in various facets, both large and small, of our growth products. On this team you will have the ability to directly impact revenue growth at Checkr, optimizing the signup funnel to increase new customer volume and the percentage of new customers who order a background check. What you’ll do

  • Own development of the product from ideation, design, implementation, to release
  • Bring a customer-centric, product-first mindset to the table - collaborate with Design, Product, Data, and others to instrument and deploy new product experiments and ship impactful features
  • Define and lead technical initiatives to enable growth at scale and address technical debt, both within the team and across the Growth group
  • Provide mentorship to engineers on the team and across the organization
  • Spread development best practices through knowledge sharing and documentation
  • Partner with product and engineering management in quarterly and annual planning activities
  • Ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of our services

What you bring

  • 8+ years of full stack software development experience building front-end JavaScript based applications and backend solutions. 
  • 3+ years experience in a project leadership role
  • Advanced knowledge in Javascript and React (or similar languages/frameworks). Experience with Ruby is a bonus, not required.
  • Experience building scalable technical architecture, including automated testing, observability tooling, and performant applications. Experience with supporting A/B experimentation is a bonus, not required.
  • A deep sense of ownership from feature design through production release
  • Proven track record of being effective within multi-team collaborations with both technical and  non-technical stakeholders (Marketing, Operations, etc.)
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Experience and willingness to mentor engineers to grow their skillset and guide ownership of high-impact features

The base salary range for this role is $204,138 to $276,186 in San Francisco, CA
