Manager, Software Engineering - Ingestion

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead the Ingestion team. This team is responsible for the real-time data ingestion platform at Samsara that our product teams can rely on to experiment, iterate, and build new products and features rapidly. This role requires a strong understanding of software engineering best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a team of talented engineers. You will also drive the development and integration of new frameworks across a wide range of engineering teams. In this role, you will: 

• Lead and manage a team of backend engineers to develop, maintain and enhance the device connectivity, data ingestion pipeline and time-series datastore underpinning our products
• Drive the development of new features and enhancements through collaboration with cross-functional teams including product management, design, and backend engineering
• Manage development processes, including code reviews, continuous integration, and deployment, to ensure high-quality deliverables that meet project timelines
• Mentor and coach team members to help them grow and develop their skills, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Collaborate with other engineering managers to align goals, standards, and processes across the organization
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
• Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
• At least 7 years of relevant software engineering work experience
• At least 2 years of experience in a management or leadership role, with a proven track record of managing teams and delivering successful projects
• Experience building and supporting scalable, mission-critical SaaS applications
