What You’ll Do

As a Cloud Engineer,  you will design, develop, and manage robust, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic cloud solutions to drive business objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technical best practices, while continuously optimizing cloud services.

This role is also responsible for driving deployment automation, developing infrastructure as code and scripts, and implementing necessary tools and technologies. This role plays  a vital part in ensuring adherence to compliance and regulatory standards, as well as promoting and fostering a culture of security consciousness within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Back-End & Front-End developers to support integration and deployment efforts
  • Develop and maintain reusable templates and code to automate solution delivery and deployment
  • Ensure the availability, performance, security, and scalability of the production system by implementing proactive system monitoring
  • Write readable, maintainable infrastructure as code with minimal technical oversight
  • Communicate with Nerdery employees and Nerdery clients about task status, availability, and questions about technology
  • Assist in capacity planning and performance management of cloud environments.
  • Create and maintain system documentation including diagrams, operational and support procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience 
  • 4+ years of professional experience within the software industry required
  • Professional work experience in GCP administration with strong fundamentals in computing, networking, security, and storage
  • 2+ years of professional experience with a cloud platform required and specifically experience with
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible (Terraform preferred) 
  • Hands-on experience managing CI/CD tools and orchestration platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab, Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge of building Docker containers and understanding of microservices architecture
  • Experience working in a distributed, agile environment planning and executing on a projects using Agile methodologies
  • Confident with use of Git for version control

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications from major cloud providers
  • Experience with ETL/ELT
  • Experience with BigData
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Experience in database architecture, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, and/or advanced analytics
