Manager, IAM Development

About the role:

Samsara’s IAM Development team is responsible for providing secure and industry standard authentication and authorization functionality in our customer facing products. Working closely with Product Management and Information Security, the IAM team ensures a streamlined experience for customers while rigorously protecting their identities and data.

This role is open to candidates residing in the US except the San Francisco Bay Area (125 mi. radius from 1 De Haro St, San Francisco) and NYC Metro Area (50 mi. radius from 131 W 55th St, New York.

In this role, you will: 

• Lead your team in driving the continual maturation of Samsara’s Identity and Access Management functionality.
• Collaborate strategically with other leaders and platform teams to meet critical security and compliance objectives.
• Refine and maintain a strategic roadmap that achieves quarter over quarter success in meeting customer expectations and reducing security risk.
• Report and present your team’s wins, lessons learned, and progress to leadership.
• Set a high standard for the reliability of your components.
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
• Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Minimum 2 years experience leading technical staff in a Software Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7 years hands-on technical experience as a software engineer or site reliability engineer.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment.
• Strong track record of delivering against committed roadmap goals.
• Proven record of attracting top talent and coaching the team.
• Strong understanding of security weaknesses, exploits, attacks and mitigations.

An ideal candidate also has:

• Experience with multiple Public Cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Demonstrated prowess in one or more of the following: Golang, Python, Terraform.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot runtime issues.
• Experience with performance optimization in revenue critical products.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance.
