PagerDuty is seeking Full Stack Software Engineers with up to six years of experience to join our diverse, customer-centric technology company!

As a Software Engineer on the Sustainability team at PagerDuty, you’ll be part of a team that’s intensely focused on our customers and the engineering community. We design, build, and run robust systems that extend and enhance our amazing products. Of course, we use our own products ourselves!

Key Responsibilities

  • From day one, you’ll be designing, coding, testing and shipping code that ensures we deliver secure, highly reliable and scalable solutions to our customers. 
  • Since we own and operate what we build, you’ll collaborate closely with engineers across teams.
  • You will work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to build solutions that solve customer problems.
  • With 14,000+ global customers and growing, you’ll be solving really interesting technical challenges while helping to scale our product to keep up with demand.
  • You will be participating in your team’s on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise.

Basic Qualifications

  • You have at least 3 and up to 6 years of experience with web-based applications, including both monolithic and microservice-based architectures. 
  • You have been designing, building, and operating large systems with scalability, availability, and performance requirements in mind.
  • You have a strong understanding of Ruby on Rails, MySQL, and distributed systems.
  • You have good written, verbal communication and development practices, including English.
  • You have experience working in an agile environment with iterative development and fast feedback.
  • You are comfortable with loosely defined requirements where you exercise your analytical skills to clarify questions, share your approach and collaborate with your team to build & test elegant solutions. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • You have built APIs and services in distributed, highly available environments.
  • You have experience with containerization systems such as Kubernetes, and with cloud-hosting providers such as AWS.
  • You have a track record of stepping up and leading successful engineering projects.
  • You have experience coaching and mentoring others.
  • You have an understanding of the importance of empathy - you view other opinions with an open mind and clearly communicate your thoughts in order to reach technical solutions quickly.
  • You have a calm, assertive approach to diagnosing and fixing urgent problems.
