What is a Senior Software Engineer at Mozilla?

A Senior Software Engineer is the next level from a Software Engineer. They have a solid understanding of the product strategy and can recommend solutions to critical issues when needed, assist junior engineers in risk management and escalation, and advocate for and implement changes that affect their team. A Senior Software Engineer actively seeks opinions and ideas from their team members, including those with varied experiences and perspectives to improve more collective results.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Mozilla, you will…

  • Collaborate with software development teams
  • Manage multiple projects with an eye on high quality and timely delivery
  • Demonstrate accountability in the delivery of work
  • Be trusted to resolve unclear but urgent tasks

  • Experience programming in at least one of the following languages: Python, Go, Perl, Ruby, javascript, node.js, or Rust
  • Experience with tools such as Terraform, Helm, Cloudformation, Ansible, or Puppet
  • Expertise running services on GCP or AWS
  • Experience in performance optimization for public cloud databases
  • Strong communication skills

As our team works across multiple areas, you should be curious and interested in learning new things. We are excited to see any additional experience with:

  • Kubernetes administration and optimization
  • Web application design and development
  • Open source software involvement
