The opportunity

The Mozilla Innovation Ecosystems group is tasked with advancing the next phase of innovation at Mozilla, with a focus on fostering an innovation ecosystem. Our goal is to position Mozilla as a leader in tech innovation and a catalyst for product innovation throughout the technology ecosystem. We collaborate with people and organizations on new products and initiatives that can positively impact the tech ecosystem and ensure a healthy internet for everyone to love. This includes co-development projects with other ecosystem players, and funding individuals and projects which are building tech that puts the power of the internet back in the hands of the people who use it.

Are you future-focused and passionate about the internet? Are you looking to leverage your experience building, launching, and exiting technology products? Do you believe in a joyful internet that is open and accessible to all?

We are looking for an Ecosystem Development Lead who can develop and grow new product opportunities for Mozilla, which may include collaborations, partnerships, investments in new technology, and thought leadership-driven programming. You will be a catalyst in establishing Mozilla as a leading incubator for technology innovation.

What you’ll do:

  • Own and run the existing Mozilla Internet Ecosystem (MIECO) program, a collaborative community of mission-driven innovators building tech to enable a healthier internet experience - includes weekly programming, community building, and creating connections within Mozilla

  • Define and shape Mozilla’s Ecosystem strategy in combination with the SVP, Innovation Ecosystems

  • Build and maintain an ecosystem map of key players and organizations advancing new technologies

  • Source and lead collaboration efforts on initiatives or projects for which Mozilla has an opportunity to co-develop and launch new product offerings alongside others in the tech ecosystem

  • Convene entrepreneurs and builders in new tech areas Mozilla is exploring (e.g. Generative AI, Content Creation, Distributed Tech, Healthy Communities, and new forms of Social Interaction)

What you’ll bring.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in technology, with an emphasis on product development, software engineering, product design, or early-stage software

  • 5+ years of experience as a software developer

  • Experience bootstrapping, fostering, and growing communities

  • Ability to build consensus and drive decision making when there are conflicting opinions and no clear answer.

  • Experience building and launching new products or taking early adopter tech and putting it into the market.

Bonus points for…

  • Experience working with and contributing to open source technologies

  • A passion for networking and collaborating with others
