Operations at Brex

The Operations team is the bridge between our product and our customers. Our priority is to keep our customers happy and their businesses protected while delivering vital information back to our internal teams. We are responsible for underwriting all of our customers, while simultaneously managing Brex’s risk exposures. We work cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Data, and Engineering to allow Brex to scale efficiently, keeping quality top of mind. The Risk Analytics team is the shield between bad actors and our customers. We create all fraud rules based on analytics to protect our customers.

What you’ll do

The Enterprise Risk Analytics team is an analytics team embedded within the Operations organization responsible for creating and maintaining the First Line of Defense financial crime controls that protect Brex and our customers. As an Enterprise Risk Analytics Analyst,  you will focus on fighting fraud and will manage portfolio-level risk governance across multiple customer segments. You will be working in a fraud strategy task force and focusing on designing the best fraud management practice in the industry.  You will also be working cross-functionally to collect insights from front-line operations agents and turn them into actionable insights and policies. This is an opportunity to work on solving Brex’s hardest financial crime problems with some of the industry’s brightest minds. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong risk governance management including fraud loss reporting, fraud policies maintenance, and fraud signal monitoring 
  • Help conduct fraud risk assessment to identify potential gaps in Brex’s risk management and drive changes to mitigate the risk
  • Drive down losses for Brex by leveraging data-informed insights to reduce fraud risk
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to review our Fraud portfolios and make recommendations for mitigating imminent risks
  • Building dashboards and partnering with Data Science, Engineering, Sales, and Operations teams to inform the company on the status of the Risk organization

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience with fraud, financial crime, operations, risk, payments, or a related field
  • Proficient with database languages such as SQL, dashboarding, and data analytics 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent written communication and collaboration skills 

Bonus points

  • BS/BA degree in mathematics, economics, computer science, or a related quantitative field
  • Project management or risk governance experience 
  • A wide range of expertise with risk systems, AML, KYC, or knowledge of payment systems such as ACH, wire, or check processing
  • Highly self-driven and proactively seeking to solve new problems
