About the Job:

As a Software Engineer on LaunchDarkly’s SDK team, you will build the primary touchpoint that our customers interact with on a daily basis. You’ll work with multiple technologies across our 20+ SDKs while enabling customers of all kinds to feature flag their code. When working on our SDKs, you’d be contributing to much more than thin client wrappers. Our SDKs are feature-rich agents with a strong emphasis on performance, concurrency, and resiliency -- all while following idiomatic practices for their tech stack.

LaunchDarkly serves trillions of feature flags daily to customers all around the globe, and every flag is handled by our SDKs.  This team has a major impact not only on our company but on our customers (and their customers).  We are growing fast and we need your help writing the next chapter in our story.

  • Contribute to SDK development for Android and other supported platforms

  • Collaborate with our engineering and product teams to drive the implementation and release of major features

  • Actively maintain our open-source repositories

  • Identify areas of improvement and advocate for best practices

  • Have an active voice in shaping both technology and product decisions

  • Experience with Android (Java) and one of iOS (Swift or Objective-C), React Native, Flutter (Dart), or .NET (Xamarin)

  • Polyglot background— fluency in at least one programming language, and an ability to context switch quickly between languages

  • Strong computer science fundamentals

  • Experience building and maintaining client applications or libraries

  • A commitment to working in a communicative and collaborative environment

  • Self‐starter and problem solver, willing to solve difficult problems and work independently when necessary

  • Strong testing background: experience building unit, integration, load tests, and benchmarks

  • Experience writing production-ready code with emphasis on quality and maintainability

About LaunchDarkly:

LaunchDarkly is a Feature Management Platform that serves trillions of feature flags daily to help software teams build better software, faster. Feature flagging is an industry standard methodology of wrapping a new or risky section of code or infrastructure change with a flag. Each flag can easily be turned off independent of code deployment (aka "dark launching"). LaunchDarkly has SDKs for all major web and mobile platforms. We are building a diverse team so that we can offer robust products and services. Our team culture is dynamic, friendly, and supportive. Our headquarters are in Oakland.

At LaunchDarkly, we believe in the power of teams. We're building a team that is humble, open, collaborative, respectful and kind. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

One of our company values is 'Widen the Circle'. Which means we seek out diversity of perspectives to get better results. We understand everyone has their own unique talents and experiences. We encourage you to apply to this role even if you don’t think you meet 100% of the qualifications outlined above. We can find out together if it's the right match for your skillset.

LaunchDarkly is also committed to giving back to our community and is a part of Pledge 1%, an organization that helps companies make this a priority. Through this initiative and its charitable arm, the LaunchDarkly Foundation, the company is committed to such causes as supporting education for the underserved, homelessness relief and moving towards having a net-zero carbon footprint.
