We’re searching for a Summer 2023 Lidar Hardware Product Engineering Intern. 

The HPE Lidar team is the product arm of Aurora’s cutting edge FirstLight Lidar technology. A role on this team means being a meaningful part of scaling our Lidar system from low to high volume with design for reliability, robustness, scalability, cost and manufacturability in mind.  You will work with seasoned engineers from throughout the industry who will look to mentor and guide you through your intern experience. This role will be hands-on and will enable the intern to gain experience while owning a key piece of our development from end to end. 

Required Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical area with a graduation date between December 2023 - May 2024
  • Hands-on experience from engineering clubs, prior internships
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical fundamentals
  • 3D Mechanical CAD and 2D drawing understanding
  • Design of experiments and test experience
  • Experience rapid prototyping 
  • Passion for solving challenging, impactful problems as part of a team, and a "win together" mindset

Desirable Qualifications

  • Engineering hobbyist
  • Familiar with Catia
  • GD&T knowledge
  • LIDAR or sensor background

Interns must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship (CPT/OPT are both acceptable). Aurora does not offer J-1 visa sponsorship for interns. 

Hourly Rate: 

The base hourly pay rate for this internship is as follows:

$49.00 per hour for interns pursuing an undergraduate degree;
$52.00 per hour for interns pursuing a master’s degree;
