As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be shaping the next set of innovations happening across GitHub Actions. You will act independently and provide significant technical leadership across teams to deliver interdependent solutions. You will bring broader perspectives and identify opportunities to enhance the business through cross-group collaboration. You will also identify best practices and provide deep expertise on the design and validation strategy.

This role will be involved in the design, rollout and support of highly performant, highly scalable and highly available services and infrastructure by collaborating with your team and product partners. Together we are creating the tools and products that are integral to how people build software. We pride ourselves on being thoughtful, intentional, and productive. We hope you do as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Write highly performant features for storing and retrieving assets at GitHub scale, petabytes of data are stored and accessed millions of times a day. 
  • You will be the technical lead within the team, expected to build scalable solutions.
  • You will design/architect solutions, and guide team decision making

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in distributed backend systems
  • Experience in taking a large, highly visible project through established milestones to meet organizational deliverables

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Significant experience with Ruby, Go, Java, etc
  • Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers
  • Providing significant technical leadership on projects
  • Experience with a public cloud provider (Azure, etc)

 


Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in India.
