About the role:

As a Senior Web Developer on Samsara’s Growth team, you’ll work with partners across marketing and design to develop world class web experiences. You’ll work to create new pages, develop seamless content creation tooling and help ensure our web properties are optimized for performance, efficiency and scalability. Our ideal candidate has had experience creating responsive web pages from detailed file handoffs from designers (we use Figma!), experience working on multi-language websites leveraging a headless content management platform and is excited about the future of web development and open to leveraging new architectural patterns to create accessible, performant and elegant web experiences. 

As a Senior Developer on the team our ideal candidate will demonstrate ownership over and accountability for our website infrastructure, guide other engineers on projects, and deliver projects of high impact with clarity and independence. Sample URLs or Github sample projects are required to be considered.

In this role, you will: 

  • Deliver, maintain, and pioneer responsive content and integrations across Samsara web properties
  • Increase web scalability, user engagement, and traffic by developing and implementing the best web development standards
  • Optimize for performance and accessibility
  • Build CMS workflows and architecture for translations, global site updates, and self-serve changes
  • Understand the technical constraints of a project, and make pragmatic tradeoffs with stakeholders
  • Own and create outstanding user experiences on both desktop and mobile by collaborating with peers across Design, Marketing and SEO
  • Mentor and support more junior developers on the team
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 4+ years in a front-end development role, include portfolio or samples of past work and projects
  • Fluent in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (JavaScript libraries like Nuxt, Next, Gatsby, Gridsome)
  • Experience working on search engine optimization (SEO) including familiarity with optimizing core web performance metrics (CLS, LCP, FID, etc.) and Lighthouse scores
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Design, Marketing, and other non-technical teams
  • Experience using modern front-end tools (Vite, Webpack, ESLint, Jest, Cypress, etc)
  • Experience accurately translating designs cross-browser for a variety of screen sizes
  • Excellent organizational skills, communication and attention-to-detail
  • Experience working with Figma or similar (Sketch and InVision)

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience with multi-language sites and localization
  • Experience with Vue / Nuxt
  • Familiarity with Github actions
  • Experience driving accessibility (A11y) testing and best practices across engineering and design
  • Experience with JAMStack hosting platforms like AWS Amplify, Netlify, Vercel
