Interview Process

1. Hiring Manager Sync (30 mins), discussing candidate's background 2. Executive Interview (30 mins, Engineering Managers only) - Talk with the CEO to learn about company vision. 3. Tech Screen (60-75 minutes, no coding) - Project exploration : Diving into a recent project the candidate has worked on, talking about different tech decisions and trade-offs made. Also discuss lessons learned and more. System Design: Using a feature we've already built, we'll ask you how you might go about building it. How would you design it? What trade-offs are important to you? Managers: Discuss a project you recently led a team through and we'll spend time in system design talking about how the work might be parallelized, broken down, etc 4. Product Interview (30-45 min) - Convo focused on how the candidate views the engineering/PM relationship and how they bring customer focus to their work 5. Hiring Manager Interview (45 min) : For Engineering managers - questions covering candidate's management philosophy and approach. For Individual Contributors: Questions covering how you work with your colleagues. How you resolve conflicts, actions you take to foster a safe and inclusive environment. 6. Optional interview for individual contributors (read Step 2)

$165,000 - $210,000.

Who You Are:

You are a strong backend engineer with some architectural experience. You are customer-focused, and enjoy collaborating with a small team of world-class engineers to solve complex problems at scale. You have worked in a start-up or high growth company and have shipped products into production. You find excitement in learning and working cross-functionally with customer teams, product and design to create credible and compelling customer solutions and experiences.  You enjoy mentoring junior engineers, actively participating in hiring processes, and taking ownership of key projects and deliverables, including working with leadership to accurately scope project timelines.  And, you find excitement in rapidly shipping products that deliver meaningful customer experiences.

What Excites You:

  • Ownership and delivery of projects, including: 
    • Optimizing current code bases to increase performance and reduce cloud costs
    • Optimizing our internal and external APIs to meet the demand of our rapidly growing customer base
    • Building custom, actionable observability tools to empower our internal teams
  • Learning about customer problems and directly solving them with your work
  • Designing and implementing backend services that scale
  • Writing clean code that works and ships often to production
  • Having end-to-end ownership of projects, working closely with our Product team to guide implementation
  • Mentoring junior engineers and participating in hiring processes
  • Working at a rapidly growing early stage startup with significant impact on the company’s processes, culture, and product
  • Building and maintaining highly scalable and user-friendly observability tools
  • The chance to use, or to learn, languages like Rust and Go (these are technologies important to our backend)

What Gets Our Attention:

  • 5+ years of shipping complex, production quality backend services at scale
  • Demonstrated expertise with public REST API design and implementation
  • Mastery of at least one common server programming language (Go, Typescript)
  • Experience with one of the major cloud platforms, preferably GCP
  • Experience with DevOps and infrastructure management
  • Experience with pub/sub messaging or event streaming frameworks nice to have
  • Examples of production code shipped at scale that has resulted in strong customer satisfaction

What’s In It For You:

  • Base Salary Range: $165,000 - $210,000. Offered salary will be based on the offered candidate’s demonstrated attributes and competencies related to the role, as well as the offered candidate’s geographical location within the United States.  Your recruiting partner can share more details about the compensation range as it relates to your geography once your interview process has begun.
