1. Programming/debugging phone screen 2. On-site with your own laptop/setup and full access to internet. Interviews include systems design, 45 min practical coding question, integrating an API exercise, debugging, and talking with hiring manager about team alignment.

Help us define, build, and deliver the story of Stripe’s emerging products.

The Financial Connections team is developing new products to simplify how consumers can leverage their entire online financial portfolio through a streamlined experience. The team is both building new stand-alone experiences and also partners across all areas of the business to create a single pane of glass to delight our customers.What you’ll do

We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager of Managers with outstanding technical and people management skills to manage and grow a set of excellent engineers and engineering leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership on multiple fronts (architecture/design, code reviews, and incident management) to your reports
  • Independently own and drive multiple critical work streams, this includes vision/direction setting, overseeing the overall planning and execution toward clear objectives with measurable key results
  • Deliver value through strong collaboration with multiple stakeholders across Stripe
  • Establish and drive adoption of design and coding best practices within your team
  • Work with many Stripe leaders across the company to drive toward the vision and direction of Stripe’s emerging products
  • Define and grow your team’s charter with Stripe’s business growth
  • Understand user needs and user pain points to prioritize engineering work and deliver high quality solutions to meet user needs
  • Drive the roadmap and priorities for your team, and work with dependencies across the company
  • Manage and grow a team of engineers and engineering leaders to deliver high business impact projects on schedule with high-quality
  • Partners with our recruiting team to attract and hire top talent, and define the overall hiring strategies for your team

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 12+ years of professional hands-on software development experience
  • 8+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
  • Experience leading teams of 40+ engineers and managers
  • Experienced in designing and building large scale distributed systems
  • Customer obsession, ability to articulate and represent customer experience in various forums to drive the right outcome that benefits our customers.
  • Experience attracting and hiring top talent, including engineering leaders and staff engineers
  • Demonstrated ability of defining & driving complex initiatives/projects across multiple teams
  • Proven success with cross-discipline and cross-team collaborations
  • A genuine enjoyment of learning and diving into the nuts-and-bolts of how things work — in this role, you’ll learn lots about product pricing and management, currency conversion, inter-company flows, finance and accounting, and many more topics

Preferred requirements

  • Familiarity with the common patterns and practices for building reliable software
  • Experience leading teams distributed across multiple locations and/or time zones
  • Experience collaborating closely with non-engineering teams, such as finance, accounting, sales, or operations
