Interview Process

1. Chat with recruiter 2. Chat with one of our engineering leaders 3. Take home assignment that is not timed ( thinking about code production quality in arriving to a solution) 4. Virtual onsite (5 sessions: take home follow up discussion, architecture and design white boarding, chat with a product manager, chat about teamwork, and another meeting with hiring manager ~ about 4 hours) 5. Team matching (non-evaluative)

The Team You’ll Work With

Finance Automation is an engineering team that support’s Carta’s Finance team to scale as Carta’s business scales both in volume, and complexity.  Finance Automation owns Carta’s internal subscription service, contract management, data pipelines to NetSuite and Salesforce, finance-related 3rd party integrations, and user-facing pages related to subscriptions and contract signing.

The Problems You’ll Solve

Finance Automation is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a new sub team within Finance Automation, taking ownership over parts of the domain. 

Responsibilities include:

  • People management for 2-4 engineers initially: performance evaluations, career development, mentorship, knowledge transfer, unblocking, hiring, training, 1-on-1s.
  • Form relationships with key stakeholders, work with product to clarify requirements.  Define and communicate the team’s roadmap.
  • Lead engineering strategy for the team by establishing and promoting best practices, leading design reviews, and collaborating with other engineering teams to resolve cross-cutting issues.
  • Lead projects, create technical documentation, break down project milestones and delegate work, and support engineers leading projects of their own with mentorship and oversight.

The Impact You’ll Have

Building the foundation for a more scalable Carta will allow Finance, Sales, and CSM teams to continue to scale as Carta continues to grow. As Carta continues to expand into new geographies and products, creating leverage for administrative teams, including the finance team, via automation is a top priority at the Company level, and this role is uniquely positioned to drive that strategy forward.

About You

We are looking for an aspiring technical leader with experience leading impactful software engineering projects from inception to maintenance. You will be successful in this role by demonstrating the following:  

  • Full-stack or back-end experience is desirable.  
  • People management experience or an interest in people management is key. 
  • Experience working with product and internal stakeholders to negotiate and clarify requirements.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional projects through the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Experience within a SaaS company.
  • Accounting or finance knowledge is a plus but not required.
