Senior Backend Engineer - Remote

Pager is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer on one of our internal teams that are tasked with an exciting yet challenging opportunity - to build Pager’s core interactions backend. You’ll be involved in developing software that powers people like yourself and us to get quality healthcare from the comfort of our homes or on the go. This position is fully remote, and we’re accepting candidates from anywhere in Latin America.  

Our growing Engineering team is composed of over 40 Engineers and nearly 60 members in the overall department from diverse technical backgrounds in mobile, web, backend, platform, and machine learning. You will be working with individuals who are very passionate about their craft and share their opinions in healthy debate. Our teams are located mainly across the US and Latam.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, maintain, and evolve well-architected and highly reliable services, APIs, and tools.
• Drive technical discussions leading to design decisions for Pager’s APIs, services, and applications
• Investigate complex problems related to performance, security, and architectural design to deliver robust and scalable solutions successfully 
• Actively maintain and build a culture of learning, respect, transparency, and trust
• Mentor and upskill engineers from diverse backgrounds
• Communicate cross-functionally to drive both engineering and product alignment

REQUIREMENTS

• You have 5+ years of software engineering experience with a passion for solving backend challenges using Node.js
• You have deep knowledge of software architecture, microservices (REST, GraphQL, event-driven), and experience delivering them on cloud-native platforms (GCP, AWS, etc.)
• You have extensive experience with data modeling (especially with domain-driven design) and a variety of persistence models (especially relational databases like PostgreSQL and document databases like MongoDB). 
• You have experience designing software systems with security and privacy from the ground up, including various data regulatory and compliance considerations.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly when explaining technical matters to less technical teammates
• Fluent in English

OUR TECH STACK

• Our frontend is built in React and some Vue.js
• Our backend is built with Node.js utilizing MongoDB, Postgres, Redis and RabbitMQ
• Our platform consists of utilizing Kubernetes primarily in Google Cloud and some AWS
• We monitor our production environment with Datadog, Sentry, and PagerDuty
• Our SDKs are currently available for iOS, Android, React, React Native, Web, and Xamarin
