About the role:
As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, you will work in close collaboration with our Engineering and Product teams, and help ensure rapid delivery of high-quality products to our customers.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with Product and Engineering to define product quality goals and design automation infrastructure to improve test coverage and release velocity
- Develop frameworks, tools and automated tests that span the full-stack including web, mobile, platform, and embedded to test our world class IoT solution
- Rapidly identify, characterize, and triage reported bugs with Engineering
- Run functional, integration, and other real world tests of mobile app, cloud app, and hardware devices
- Develop automation-specific test plans, procedures, and processes for continually improving quality
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field, Computer Science coursework preferred
- 5+ years of industry experience in Quality Assurance, Engineering and Test automation experience required
- Expertise in full-stack test automation that includes web, mobile and platform; embedded/device for IoT products is a plus
An ideal candidate also has:
- Proven experience in coding and scripting in one or more programming languages (Go, javascript, Java, C++ etc)
- Expertise in using test automation tools such as Appium, XCUITest, Robot framework, Selenium web driver, Test NG.
- Strong technical understanding of distributed systems, ability to learn quickly and establish credibility with engineers
- Bias-to-action, you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty
- Strong understanding of CI/CD processes and tools
- Strong communication skills, comfortable working with teams from diverse backgrounds
