About the Position

The Staff Infrastructure Automation (DevOps) team member will have a direct impact on the structure and direction of TuneIn’s operations and automation. You’ll help design and develop the architecture of our systems through their entire lifecycle and work closely with our engineering teams to implement them into efficient and highly scalable methodologies.  

You will work on a broad spectrum of projects which include technologies like many components of AWS, Kubernetes(EKS), and infrastructure as code (Terraform and Pulumi), plus the opportunity to do development work as we work to further automate our systems. We also use spot.io, Datadog, New Relic, and OpsGenie in our stack.  

In this role, you will have the opportunity to help maintain excellent uptime, keep our systems fast and cost-efficient, plus develop tools for our internal teams for ever greater self-service. Your area of ownership serves both our customers and our internal engineering teams.
Responsibilities
  • Design, document, and implement highly scalable infrastructure and tools.
  • Develop automation tooling and associated frameworks that work across all engineering product lines and facilitate a developer's ability to build and deploy new services within a single business day.
  • Work with the Infrastructure Automation, SRE/NOC, and internal engineering teams. 
  • Automate management of services in AWS using Terraform, Pulumi, and other tools
  • Work with the SRE and NOC teams to develop the right monitoring - alerts, thresholds, performance indicators - for all of TuneIn’s data storage technologies so that the company can proactively address performance or other issues before they affect our customers.
  • Create SLOs and perform SLA analysis to reach Engineering SLA targets
  • Work across the entire global engineering team on achieving the company's Infrastructure Automation goals.
  • Understand the day-to-day practical issues faced by each engineering group and, in a collaborative manner, work with each team to define, design, and implement automation to improve overall developer productivity
  • Frequent collaboration with US and Ukraine-based team members both to educate and mentor as well as to ensure the alignment around the optimal automation for TuneIn.
  • Seek to audit, streamline and refactor existing infrastructure automation code to improve clarity and consistency
  • Participate in an on-call rotation (with overnight coverage from our Ukraine team).
  • Requirements
  • BS in computer science or equivalent technical experience. MS preferred 
  • 8+ years of cloud infrastructure management experience (AWS)
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Deep experience in cloud container orchestration (Kubernetes(EKS), Docker)
  • Experience with “infrastructure as a code” (Terraform/Pulumi)
  • CI/CD methodologies (Github Actions, Argo Rollouts, Kubernetes service mesh) 
  • Networking (VPC, VPN, NAT)
  • Thorough understanding of IAM, roles, groups, permissions
  • Strong Security skills 
  • Compute (capacity planning, scalability, cluster/container management, etc.)
  • Site reliability (Datadog, New Relic)
  • Familiarity with programming and/or scripting languages (Go, Python)
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and testing skills
  • Dedication to excellent customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to tailor the message to your audience
  • Ability to mentor other engineers on best practices
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Willing to be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation (offshore overnight coverage)
