What We Do

The Driver Applications team  is working on bringing to life the Mapbox vision of the navigation applications for the automotive world. In practice we are building Mapbox navigation applications for the Linux and Android platforms for in-vehicles navigation. Those applications provide a high level integration with the vehicle subsystems and at the same time provide a high level of customization, which allows us to deliver applications to various automotive brands. 

Good examples of customers who are using our products could be such well-known brands as GM, Toyota. In our plans is to:

• continue development of the products to provide even more functionality and customization options than we offering now to our existing and potential customers
• continue expanding our presence on the automotive navigation market by building partnerships with other vehicle manufactures as well as two-wheelers manufacturers.

What You'll Do

We are looking for Android engineers who will become part of one of our teams working on the navigation applications for a number of the largest car manufacturers in the industry such as GM and Toyota.

You will:

• Drive technical development in the Android Driver Application team.
• Participate in discussions regarding the technical and functional sides of the product in close collaboration with Mapbox teams and our customers.
• Make key contributions into application architecture, code health, and development processes for building best in class software products.
• Collaborate closely with other teams across Mapbox to understand and build what is needed to enable delightful user app experiences.

• Demonstrated history of shipping Android applications 
• Experience in building Android Applications with Kotlin or Java
• Knowledge of software design, applications architecture, and Android
• Enthusiasm for building components and systems with reliability and long term support in mind
• Good sense of usability
• Open-minded to explore new languages, skills, techniques, and platforms
• Desire to learn and to teach
• Experience building SDKs in any language is a plus
