GitHub is changing the way the world builds software, and we want you to help. The Packages Registry team in Github is building a product that will reshape how developers publish and consume packages all over the world. We are looking for a strong people manager to lead a team of engineers who has previous hands-on engineering experience to support the passionate, adaptive, and distributed group of engineers. You will partner with product managers, designers, engineers and cross-functional teams in areas like design systems, infrastructure, and analytics to ensure delivery of new high-quality features.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of high caliber Software Development Engineers building solutions for GitHub package registry that deal with multi-peta bytes of data and high transactional through-put
  • Build and scale the microservices framework based distributed product with growing adoption using cloud native solutions
  • Cultivate an environment where team members are empowered and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and belonging
  • Technical Leadership across the product, ensure the team builds software that is architecturally consistent and of high quality
  • Ensure that individuals on the team are learning, growing and advancing in their respective careers
  • Ensure the team ships products, experiments, features and bug fixes regularly
  • Ensure the team have a clear understanding of the direction of the projects and the reasoning behind decisions
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, pairing opportunities, and code reviews to encourage the growth of others
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach Software Development Engineers at different levels of experience

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience with managing engineering teams.
  • The successful candidate will have deep experience in one or many Microservice frameworks as well as deep experience with creating and managing Cloud Native solutions through all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience building and managing services with large scale of usage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, planning, and organization.
  • Passionate about fostering good engineering practices and processes.
  • Has worked with a distributed team.
  • Experience developing a strategy and roadmap for your team.
  • Experience developing and operating highly available, reliable and performant systems.
  • Experience with programming concurrent and/or distributed systems.
  • Expert understanding of web related protocols and standards, such as HTTP, SSL, REST and JSON.

 


Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in India.
