Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Design is involved in almost everything Stripe does—from our events and brand voice, to our web and mobile products, and even printed publications like Stripe Press. Stripe’s main audience is other people who build products; on their behalf we agonize over the details. We want our user experiences to become second nature.

There are several teams under the banner of Web Presence & Platform (WPP) at Stripe: Experiences, Experimentation, Events, Content Platform, and more. It’s a tightly coupled group of interactive designers, front-end specialists, producers, platform engineers, and every skill set in-between.

The Experiences, Experimentation, and Events teams focus on the craft of our web pages—UX design, frontend code, information architecture. The Content Platform team supports them and other partners around Stripe by ensuring there’s a fast, efficient technology platform on which to build and run these pages.

Together we design and build stripe.com and other sites that amount to what is, for many, their first impression of Stripe. We want to make every pixel count, we want it to be enthralling, and we want to help other Stripes seamlessly benefit from our systematic work.

What you’ll do

This is a senior web-native role leading the web strategy and product roadmap of our online portfolio. As a product leader you’ll guide a nimble team of designers, design engineers, and managers crafting stripe.com across the Experiences and Experimentation teams.

Working in partnership with product and marketing leads, you will build the strategic vision and roadmap for Stripe's web presence, including stripe.com but also across our other surfaces such as press.stripe.com and link.co. You’ll drive meaningful business growth helping raise awareness, conversion and positive user sentiment. You’ll partner with Web Presence and Platform’s leadership, Product Marketing, Comms, Policy, Editorial and other internal teams to devise and deliver on quarterly and yearly roadmaps—focused on the experiences we bring to our users. You’ll be user-driven and data-informed. You’ll ensure creativity and craft shine through, and that our users’ experiences are best in class. You’ll partner with other design leaders across Stripe to ensure our users’ experience is coherent from end-to-end, leading to the best outcomes for them, and helping all our various teams sing from the same song sheet.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the team to help develop and expand our information architecture, content strategy, editorial direction and strategic roadmaps
  • Partner with peer leaders who are accountable for design systems, generative art directions, web animations, and who distill interaction-heavy product launch materials on sites such as stripe.com. You’ll do so while ensuring our users and their ability to succeed across our web presence are central to our plans
  • Lead a cross-functional team and direct their daily work. Drive prioritization conversations with business partners.
  • Devise of, own, and drive business metrics and goals in partnership with Sales & Marketing, Comms, and Product
  • Empower a specialist Experimentation team to balance the delight of our experiences with their ability to drive conversion in pursuit of those shared goals
  • Help the team influence strategic decisions across all the corners of our web presence
  • Often work on very broadly defined, loose concepts, and sometimes on narrowly defined, tactical deliverables

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years leading web strategy. Relevant experience includes: web product management and strategy, web and growth marketing, and/or creative technology leadership.
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Leadership in driving strategic thinking for impactful digital experiences, initiating customer insight studies, channel efficacy reports, roadmap planning, stakeholder management, and steering committee leadership. You’ve been accountable for business results and exceeded them on the web
  • A demonstrable ability to communicate your product strategy, roadmap, information architecture designs, and specifications using documentation and crisp visualization
  • Advanced knowledge of SEO, A/B and multivariate testing and a track record of educating business partners as to their efficacy and utility

Preferred qualifications

    • Conviction in the web as a storytelling medium that can drive user success and business outcomes, demonstrable through a portfolio of improvements to web marketing initiatives, holistic web presence plans and execution, engaging and effective microsites, or anything else—you tell us
    • Empathy with and support for the disciplines of design and web technology, and the ways to successfully engage those skills to shine while driving roadmaps and decisions that have a foundation in data
    • A tenacity for moving quickly on new, green-field projects while steadfastly delivering on long-term roadmaps
    • Accountability and a high bar when working with production systems
    • Intuition and empathy to gather consensus amongst different stakeholders and subject matter experts
