Who We Are
Aurora (Nasdaq: AUR) is delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. Founded in 2017 by experts in the self-driving industry, Aurora is revolutionizing transportation – making it safer, increasingly accessible, and more reliable and efficient than ever before. Its flagship product, the Aurora Driver, is a platform that brings together software, hardware, and data services, to autonomously operate passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks. Aurora is partnered with industry leaders across the transportation ecosystem including Toyota, Volvo, PACCAR, Uber, Uber Freight, FedEx, and U.S. Xpress. Aurora tests its vehicles in the Bay Area, Pittsburgh, and Texas and has offices in those areas as well as in Bozeman, MT; Seattle, WA; Louisville, CO; and Detroit, MI. As a software engineer in the architecture/acceleration group at Aurora, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining software systems at the core of our self-driving vehicles. The team works across the autonomy group (localization, perception, planning, controls) and the software organization at large, on high-priority, short-term projects that are cross-functional in nature with the goal of speeding up the delivery of a production autonomous vehicle. Past projects have included managing onboard latency, visualizing autonomy, end-to-end autonomy metrics, performance optimization, and supporting autonomy simulation. Team members collaborate every day with leading experts in machine learning, sensor development, large-scale software systems, simulation, and robotics and have opportunities for advancing the state of autonomous systems and implementing their own groundbreaking ideas.
As a team, we strive to increase the pace of development and amplify our impact by developing systems and components targeted at critical parts of the self-driving problem. We focus on short-term efforts in both leadership and support capacities, while bringing a cross-autonomy perspective to the task at hand, and deploying disciplined engineering, evaluation of data, and rigorous testing. Our goal is to support onboard and off-board software development, with projects including deep performance optimization, visualization, developer and cloud tooling, system architecture, and core algorithm development.
In This Role, You Will
- Design, develop, and test onboard and off-board autonomy software.
- Develop tools for increasing the development speed of building autonomy software.
- Develop tools for introspection, visualization, and performance analysis.
- Improve the performance of autonomy systems through architectural and algorithmic optimizations
- Experience developing software using C++.
- Experience developing in a Linux or Unix environment.
- Python and/or C++
- Real-Time Systems
- Cloud Automation
- Software Architecture
- API Development
- User Facing Application Development
