The Team You’ll Work With

Carta’s Core Product teams are responsible for solving problems by building delightful software products for our customers, from compensation tools for HR administrators to equity management solutions for CFOs and CEOs. You’ll play a crucial role in delivering reliable,  scalable and enterprise-grade software solutions that enable our customers to grow on the Carta platform. We are biased toward action and believe in build -> measure -> learn. You can expect to be pushed outside of your comfort zone while learning new technologies and stretching your technical leadership skills.

How we work

You’ll contribute to solving some of the biggest challenges Carta faces at any given moment. Our success is measured by the impact you have. As a senior engineer working with our Core Product teams, you will be solving problems end-to-end. This begins with identifying the problem, formulating, architecting and implementing the solution. Everyone on the team is an equal contributor with full ownership of the problems and deliverables.

What you’ll contribute to:

  • Architecting complex SaaS products end-to-end
  • Partnering with business stakeholders to solve meaningful problems for our customers
  • Improving how we build product
  • Defining metrics for software solutions
  • Modeling structured and unstructured data and relationships in the private financial markets ecosystem
  • Mentoring more junior engineers

The Impact You’ll Have

Our teams works closely with product and business to understand the highest priorities of our biggest customers. By understanding their challenges, improving the underlying infrastructure, and building solutions atop of them, our impact is far reaching and directly contributes to Carta’s growth.

About You

With 5+ years of software development experience and strong systems fundamentals, you’re excited by the idea of working on projects end-to-end. Our stack has React, Java, Python, Javascript, and Django hosted in the cloud on Kubernetes -- experience with these technologies would be nice to have but not required.

More specifically:

  • You care deeply about software and the leverage that software brings. You can use your past experience building software to show your team the way in which they can improve our customer’s leverage.
  • You are exceptionally technical and have strong systems fundamentals. You can describe complex ideas simply. You are just as capable working toward a long term road map as you are jumping into a fire to solve a customer’s problem 5 minutes from now.
  • You are a strong communicator who is comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to understand business requirements and build thoughtful solutions.
  • You are hungry to learn about our customers’ businesses and their pain points.

The Interview Process

Our team believes that interviews are a two-way process and we strive to make them enjoyable without any “gotchas.” The interview process starts with a call with a member of our warm, amazing recruiting team who will tell you more about the job and the company. Then, you’ll meet an engineering manager from the organization who will walk you through the specifics of the positions available, the different teams, what we’re looking for, and of course, answer any questions you will have. This interview will last 45 minutes. Then there’s a technical take home assignment where you’ll be working on a practical problem in the language of your choice. The take home assignment is not timed but most people take about two hours or less. Finally, we will schedule you for another four or five meetings with other team members to discuss everything from Carta’s culture to cross-team collaboration and what you can expect, and what is expected from you.

Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans.
