Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe’s culture prioritizes and celebrates great writing. But as our organization and technical complexity have grown, our documentation tooling hasn’t kept up.  Our team is quickly filling that gap by building systems and tools to enable engineers to write, find and consume docs with confidence and ease.

What you’ll do

You’ve got a rare opportunity not just to build software that a thousand or so engineers are eager to adopt, but to lay the groundwork for how Stripe engineers get things done—and, by extension, to lay the groundwork for how millions of merchants grow their businesses —for the next decade.

  • Build tooling and systems from the ground up that will support and guide Stripe’s engineers for the next 10+ years
  • Support a culture of learning and great documentation throughout Stripe
  • Develop a deep understanding of our internal users and how they get engineering work done
  • Design and implement new tools and interfaces for writing and consuming technical documentation
  • Build and maintain a system that allows for fast search and discovery of existing documentation

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Have 2+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • Have hands-on experience, or an interest in building tools and products for engineers
  • Enjoy working across the stack—on frontend, backend, infrastructure, or data pipelines—to solve complex problems and delight our users (you don’t need to be an expert in all of these, but it helps to be interested in learning about them

Preferred qualifications

  • Have 4+ years of Software Engineering experience with some mix of frontend and backend work.
  • Hands on experience building tools for engineers or collaboration products
  • Have experience with pedagogy, knowledge management, information architecture, library science, and/or engineering documentation
