Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Frontend Engineer to join Aurora’s Simulation team to build cutting-edge web applications and services for creating, visualizing, and editing simulation scenarios.

In this role, you will

  • Build intuitive and interactive frontend components and user experiences for end users creating and visualizing simulation scenarios
  • Design innovative solutions using internal/external tools to help users increase the quality and quantity of simulations
  • Learn and understand high level simulation, motion planning, and perception domain topics
  • Collaborate and integrate with test management and cloud infrastructure teams and systems
  • Work across a diverse team of frontend/backend engineers, product management and UX designers, simulation engineers, autonomy developers, and other internal customers
  • Implement and use scalable services to load and process simulation, map, and autonomy data
  • Utilize and contribute to core 3D web visualization libraries to enable creation and visualization of actors and scenarios used to evaluate our system’s safety and performance

Required Qualifications

  • Full Stack Engineering Experience. The technologies we find ourselves using most commonly include modern Javascript frameworks/libraries (React, Mobx, Typescript, Three.js), Python/Flask, and AWS. We build web applications and services for creating, visualizing, and editing simulation scenarios.
  • Passion for user experience. You take pride in delivering polished and intuitive user interactions, as well as top notch customer service. Whether you’re working on an API used by other developers, an internal tool consumed by our operation teams, or a feature used by millions of riders, your attention to details leads to a delightful user experience.
  • Phenomenal communication skills. We build software for people, with people. You know how to write an effective technical spec, provide feedback to others, translate technical concepts into lay terms, and incorporate feedback into your efforts. You value and practice openness, empathy, kindness, and collaboration.
  • Fast learner. We’re looking for software engineers who thrive on learning new technologies. You should be able to adapt easily to meet the needs of our massive growth and rapidly evolving business environment.
  • Team player. You believe that you can achieve more on a team — that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You rely on others' candid feedback for continuous improvement. You will be proactive in engaging your team with openness, patience and kindness in an environment where it is safe to lean on each other and learn from failures.
  • A preference for action. You will use good judgment to balance speed and quality. You will deliver products that are built in a responsible and sustainable way. You will use a self-starter mentality to thrive in a growing environment, and consider no obstacle too big or too small. You will notice where there is a need and will hustle to fill it.
