Interview Process

1. Half day pair programming on a task for production or one of our Open Source projects. We'll also buy you lunch with the team.

Bustle Digital Group is looking for a skilled and experienced designer to join our Editorial Creative team. This role reports into the SVP of Creative and in addition to working alongside the Art Director and editorial design team, this role will work closely with our editorial team and photography team. The designer’s job is to create editorial art to support our Parenting properties (Scary Mommy, Fatherly, and Romper). These editorial artworks include photo collages, illustration, and other various design solutions. Additionally, special skills such as animation, 3D design and video editing are a plus. 

This role is a full-time hire that includes medical benefits and unlimited time off. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced designer looking to create versatile, engaging, and provocative editorial art in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Art Director and editorial team to create unique, conceptual artwork for each Parenting site while adhering to brand guidelines, while also continually brainstorming to evolve the brand aesthetic. 
  • Have a multi-faceted and efficient design capacity to shift between photo collages, illustration, typography, newsletter and web design.
  • Demonstrate ability to take feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Create reusable templates when applicable to reduce production time.
  • Be passionate about working on a suite of websites dedicated to parenting, pregnancy, relationships, sex, work, lifestyle, food and more.
  • Requirements
  • At least 3-4 years of relevant work experience in publishing or in-house environment with a strong online portfolio of work
  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of motion graphics, including Adobe After Effects
  • Knowledge of working in Figma and Sketch a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once while maintaining attention to detail with each project.
  • Adept at team collaboration and communication
