About the team
The Compute team at Stripe is in charge of building the core infrastructure used by all product teams at Stripe to build micro-services which support our business. This includes defining and driving the vision necessary to achieve best of breed scale and availability. We continuously invest in building new distributed services and scaling existing technologies while working with various teams to meet their current and future needs.
Stripe’s infrastructure powers businesses all over the world. We process payments, run marketplaces, help entrepreneurs start an internet business from anywhere in the world, and more. The Compute organization is composed of teams that manage our OS components, cloud infrastructure, Linux servers, container orchestration, and deployments.
What you’ll do
As an Engineering Manager in Containers, you’ll use your technical leadership skills to manage and grow engineering working on our container service. You’ll run critical infrastructure, hire the best talent and deliver on their commitments. It’s a fun and unique opportunity to join a fast growing team that values initiative and customer obsession
Responsibilities
- You’ll be responsible for the reliability and availability of the tier-0 container service
- Collaborate with team members to define vision and roadmap
- Manage and grow current and future engineers to continually deliver large impact
- Establish and drive adoption of design and coding best practices within your team
- Partner with multiple customers and stakeholders across Stripe
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- Cloud Experience (previously used one of the major cloud providers - AWS/Azure/OCI/Google)
- 3+ years of experience managing an engineering team that owns an infrastructure service (storage, networking, or compute)
- 4+ years of experience in a software development role
- Demonstrated ability of defining and driving complex initiatives/projects
- Experience hiring top talents and building teams from scratch
- Ops expertise (metrics, alarming, paging, and service availability)
- The ability to thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent field
Preferred qualifications
- Kubernetes and Linux experience
