LaunchDarkly is looking for our very first Strategic UX Researcher to help take our product, technology, and team to the next level.

Working across many teams, you will partner with your peers in Product Management, Design, and Engineering to ensure we’re asking the right questions, clearly defining the core problems, and identifying research-backed product opportunities with high confidence. You will help our organization make better decisions faster, by deeply understanding our customers behaviors, needs and expectations.

You will help us envision the future of our products, guide us toward the highest impact product investments, influence product strategy and drive cohesive, elegant, and highly focused experiences for our customers.

This lead role is a key member of the Product Delivery team and will partner closely with senior leaders and product teams to prioritize efforts and deliver product-specific insights and 0->1 concept validation; while simultaneously driving direction or leading other strategic experience priorities.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all organizational levels.

  • Partner with Leadership both when developing the overall PD research roadmap and creating an institutional point of view. 

  • Identify and drive research investments based on highest business and customer impact.

  • Codify key insights into institutional knowledge by telling a great story.

  • Deeply understand our current and potential customers, their motivations, and aspirations. 

  • Help set teams up for success by becoming the first stop before work kicks off.

  • Have a point of view about strategic decisions, using insights from the team. 

  • Influence a wide variety of stakeholders to push toward better, more innovative, more informed outcomes

  • Understand the balance between the “The fast and the defensible”, choosing methods appropriate for the risk profile of the projects.

  • Utilize a deep bench of experience to “shortcut” some work through earned intuition. 

But most of all you’ll need a passion for developer tools and for improving the way every software team works.

 

On day one you should have:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all organizational levels.

  • A comprehensive toolkit of UX research tools and experience with each method.

  • Experience setting core research strategies that both complement and drive business strategy. 

  • Track record of translating research into business impact.

  • Ability to quickly synthesize vast amounts of information into useful knowledge and insights.

  • Experience working with a variety of cross functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., product managers, data scientists, designers, engineers, policy, communications, marketing).

  • 15+ years of experience in UX research and 5+ years of experience in strategic UX research (this is not a qualitative usability research role). Experience as a manager is not necessary, but is a bonus. (This is a senior IC role to start)

  • Interest in understanding the software development life cycle, and developers as users. 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be authorized to work in US / Canada (no visa sponsorship / relocation)
