About You

  • You are a natural servant leader. You’ve worked within a cross-functional team to gather feedback, identify solutions, and have helped the team rally to address the needs of the team. You take a mentoring approach to help the team, listening and guiding them through continual improvement. 
  • You’re outcome focused. You have helped a team identify its goals and the methods needed to achieve them, and have helped them identify how they are progressing toward those goals. You have some experience in tracking and taking action on agile metrics.  
  • You have some agile experience or education. You’ve helped one or more teams figure out how to apply agile frameworks like Scrum or Kanban to deliver against a common goal or have attended some agile training workshops and are eager to make use of the knowledge gained from them.
  • You’re willing to dig in. You relish helping teams succeed and work toward understanding the business objectives they are trying to solve, the skills and tools of the team, and the gaps that need to be addressed. You are able to articulate plans, progress, risks, and challenges in both a written and verbal manner to stakeholders of varying technical ability.  

Things You’ll Likely Do

Zapier is a small, fast-growing, and remote-first company, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects and programs across the organization. That said, here are some things you'll probably do:

  • Through coaching and hands-on work, you will help one or more teams prioritize their work and improve their agile practices to foster empowered teams that can solve complex problems. 
  • You will partner with stakeholders and managers to plan and support the delivery of team objectives.
  • Understand and help communicate the zone strategies and company initiatives, any changes to it, to all members within the team, highlighting how it fits into the company strategy.
  • Help the team(s) identify, communicate, and address challenges, blockers, cross-team dependencies, progress, and changes with all stakeholders.
  • Support agile processes across one or more teams by building team trust, establishing agile ceremonies, with a focus on continuous improvement. Reference and iteratively support the Agile Practitioner best practices documentation. 
  • Facilitate team agile events, ensuring the team is included and event outcomes are met. Iterate on the events as needed to ensure value is brought to all attendees.
  • Identify underlying practices or anti-practices that are causing friction within your team(s) using metrics, assessments, retros, interviews, etc. Work with the team leads to resolve, ensuring the team is healthy and driving towards high performance.
  • Collaborate with Zone Agilists & Team Leads to share learnings, process recommendations, and support reporting progress against zone goals, strategies, and company initiatives, via Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews and other reporting mechanisms.
  • With your team of Agile Practitioners, act as the Jira administrator for the organization by supporting the inquiry queue.
  • Collaborate with other agile practitioners to share learnings, establish best practices, and recognize org-wide challenges to partner on solving.
