About the role:

Samsara is looking for an experienced embedded software development engineer focused on connectivity. You will be responsible for our use of wireless protocols (LTE, WiFi, and Bluetooth) on all our devices.

In this role, you will: 

  • Design, create, and maintain the connectivity logic implemented in our firmware
  • Work with vendors to enable new modems and validate proper hardware integration
  • Own the connectivity codebase on our devices and work with our cloud teams to determine the best partitioning of communication techniques
  • Improve our connectivity experience by building telemetry to gain insight on field performance and enable product support teams
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 7+ years of software development
  • 5+ years experience in wireless systems
  • Detailed experience with connectivity including protocol details
  • Proficient in a systems programming language such as C/C++ 
  • Has integrated and tuned complex wireless systems
  • Experience with device production

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Led a small team of software developers
  • Experience with Golang
  • Working knowledge of networking tools such as tcpdump, netstat, and iperf
