1. Programming/debugging phone screen
2. On-site with your own laptop/setup and full access to internet. Interviews include systems design, 45 min practical coding question, integrating an API exercise, debugging, and talking with hiring manager about team alignment.

About the team
We’re hiring an engineering manager to lead the team that owns the product experience and infrastructure of Stripe Docs and API Reference.
Every day thousands of businesses use our docs to get up and running with Stripe. The Docs Product team’s mission is to make that process as easy and seamless as possible, while also building world class infrastructure and tooling for creating and maintaining our documentation content at scale.
Stripe is known for having great docs. This is an opportunity to own that charter and reimagine what“great docs” look(and feel) like.
What you’ll do
Responsibilities
Own the charter and drive the roadmap for Stripe Docs, API Reference, and our homegrown authoring toolchain, Markdoc
Be the steward of one of Stripe’s flagship user-facing surfaces
Be a staunch advocate for our users, get to know their needs, and deliver to them the best documentation experience possible
Interface with engineering teams across Stripe to understand their unique integration flows and user personas
Understand the competitive landscape and maintain Stripe’s leadership position in the area of developer experience and documentation
Recruit great engineers in collaboration with Stripe’s recruiting team
Help engineers advance in their careers and develop new skills
Contribute to org-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
3+ years of people management experience
Hands-on experience building developer tools, or impeccably polished tools for another discerning and highly opinionated audience
A passion for great documentation and great user experience
A deep appreciation for(and track record of delivering) quality craftsmanship
Successfully recruited and built great teams of product and platform engineers
The ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility
Clear and persuasive writing and in-person communication skills
Preferred qualifications
You have successfully managed high profile, flagship user-facing surfaces at companies of similar scale(or larger) to Stripe
You are empathetic to customer needs but enough of a visionary to not just deliver a faster horse
You are comfortable planning in quarters, and can set a vision for several years
You are comfortable working with geographically distributed teams
