In this mission, the Developer Environments team is responsible for building the backbone of the code authoring platform at Stripe ensuring there is a happy path between keystrokes and seeing code run. We work on a wide variety of systems ranging from IDE integrations to a remote code development platform and tackle fundamental challenges like how to best develop in a multi-services environment.

What you’ll do

Due to the nature of our work, we often end up interacting with various technologies used at Stripe and others that directly benefit our users. Candidates that enjoy working across many components, getting to know new codebases and interacting with various domains experts will be at home in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work on IDE extensions for both VSCode and other code authoring tools
  • Work on our remote code development system that supports our iterative development loop
  • Work on our service scheduling and service mesh development server
  • Create GUI and command-line tools that help achieve certain workflows better
  • Work with a team of technically sophisticated engineers who make developer experience their first priority.
  • Experience a wide range of technologies that you will use to both understand the pain points of your fellow engineers and improve their productivity.
  • Work with stakeholders across Stripe to balance and accommodate competing desires.
  • Deliver practical, useful, and reliable tools, processes, and systems to Stripe engineers.
  • Use both qualitative and quantitative metrics to determine priorities and measure effectiveness.
