The Role

The Infrastructure team is responsible for running the foundational services that make Loom an amazing product. We place special focus on the reliability, performance, and developer experience of our tools.

We are looking for a talented and mission-aligned Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a background in running cloud services. You will own the design and execution of our most critical projects. The Infrastructure team has wide scope, and you will find interesting and challenging work across areas such as infrastructure tooling, network architecture, CI/CD pipelines, observability strategy, compute platform, and more. Your work will impact key initiatives by enabling engineers to deliver with velocity while adapting our architecture towards the needs of our innovative video platform.

Responsibilities

Work to deliver innovative infrastructure that supports and scales with new product initiatives
Work across the Engineering org to maintain the health and usability of our internal tools
Design, build, and operate reliable services on AWS and Kubernetes
Lead our automation efforts by leveraging Go, Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes
Continuously identify and resolve system bottlenecks while we scale to 10x-100x users

What We're Looking For

3+ years of production experience with AWS
3+ years of experience owning and implementing infrastructure projects
2+ years of programming experience preferred. We use Go and JavaScript at Loom
Proven track record in architecting and scaling distributed systems
Experience working in a Linux environment

Loom makes it easier for us to say what we mean without having to schedule a zoom meeting or struggle to find the right words. And using async communication allows us to free up time for deep work every day. We believe there's a place for sync time - often a conversation on Zoom is exactly what is needed. For team meetings, this ‘sync time’ is typically between 9AM-Noon PT given where the overlap of timezones where Loommates are located.

Work-Rest Balance: The way we balance the fast-paced demands of a high-growth startup and sustainability is making rest a priority. We offer a flexible PTO policy so you're able to take time off when you need it. We also go fully offline once a year between Christmas and New Year (and twice during the Pandemic). Rest is also part of the workday, not just during PTO. Taking a break for personal commitments, whether it's watching the kids or getting some exercise is a natural part of the workday.

Social Connection: Relationships and connectedness matter. We are intentional about building trust and relationships through unique, shared experiences. Our virtual workspace keeps us connected day-to-day whether it's through Looms celebrating wins or our buzzing Slack communities.
