About the Role

As an early employee, you’ll be working with a nimble team of committed and talented engineers and having a large, long-term impact on technical design and engineering culture.

Our ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of AWS, or equivalent cloud provider, and will set the technical vision for Ramp’s core infrastructure. They have architected systems from the ground up, and have experience with scale, concurrency, fault tolerance, and idempotency. They take full ownership and are able to respond to high urgency issues. And they are able to mentor and grow every other member of the team.

What You’ll Do

  • Define roadmap and lead the implementation of Ramp's real time cloud infrastructure and architecture
  • Work cross functionally with product teams to determine shortcomings and build features into the engineering platform
  • Build abstractions within terraform to simplify the architecture and increase velocity
  • Find solutions to Ramp's toughest scaling, performance, and low latency problems
  • Participate in an On Call rotation to solve critical production events

What You Need

  • Minimum 6 years of experience shipping high quality architectures for critical systems
  • Expert knowledge of Terraform
  • Deep production experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • An ability to think through customer requirements and come up with high-impact ways to quickly solve their problems
  • Experience in an object oriented programing language
  • Experience administering SQL databases
  • Experience administering Celery, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS or other real time queue

Compensation

  • The annual salary/OTE range for the target level for this role in NYC is $212,500-$250,000 + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
