About the role:
This role will be the overall technical lead for Embedded Software and advisor to the VP for all aspects of device-side software including cross-platform software initiatives, innovation, and organizational efficiency.
In this role, you will:
- Have organizational-wide impact by creating and shepherding processes for improving developer productivity and quality, ultimately towards customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with the hardware team to specify and optimize software on our devices.
- Mentor and coach all levels of firmware engineers; recognized as a leader throughout the company.
- Drive the long-term technical roadmap for the organization.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Able to architect large projects as well as dive deep to assist teams on implementation
- Has been instrumental to the successful shipment of products at scale
- At least 10 years experience as a software developer, with the majority in embedded firmware on devices
- Understands of complex systems including cameras, sensors, and how they are used in machine learning applications
- Proven record of serving as technical lead over large and complex teams of firmware engineers
An ideal candidate also has:
- A track record of creating processes and documentation to scale to large organizations
